M vs Rutgers prediction based on almost forgetting the game tickets

This weekend we'll be traveling to Jacksonville to celebrate the life of my sister, 6 years ago we were supposed to meet her and her husband in NYC and attend the M-Rutgers game. A hurricane prevented them from attending, and my stupidity almost prevented us from attending...

M vs. Rutgers vs. COVID prediction

 How about that hockey team!

This is bad, I don't know that I've been this disillusioned about Michigan Football.

Game Week Countdown - Rutgers #1

The only remaining game that I've seen M play Rutgers was the 2016 - 78-0 blowout by Harbaugh's best team. Michigan's domination of the game was surreal.

When we had made plans to go out east for this matchup we were originally going to meet my sister and her husband out there, we would stay in the city - take an early train to New Jersey and attend the UM tailgate.

Hurricane Matthew had other ideas and my sister wasn't able to join us.

We still were had a great time in the city - we got TKTS tickets to Something Rotten, went to Brooklyn and ate at Pies n Thighs

And were about to step on the train to New Jersey... well here's my facebook post from the day

We also caught a train right away on the way back so a much better game experience overall.

Game Week Countdown - Rutgers #2

The 2017 match-up with Rutgers was most unremarkable.

After 3 mostly disappointing drives Jon O'Korn got benched and we finally got to see Brandon Peters - and from where I sat, it looked like things might be getting better.

The from where I sat is really the best part of this game. I was given the opportunity to sit in the closed in club seats on the eastern sideline.

Michigan won 35-14

Game Week Countdown - Rutgers #3

Remember 2019? Back when people could go places. More than a hundred thousand people would show up to watch Michigan play Rutgers on a Saturday afternoon.

A week after getting embarrassed by Wisconsin, Michigan got the serum they needed in the State University of New Jersey. And the Band performed the Blues Brothers - Cake Formation

Michigan prevailed 52-0, Joe Milton even scored on a TD run and threw a TD pass.

Game Week Countdown - Rutgers #4

I'll admit to not remembering anything of note from the 2015 match-up with Rutgers. It really only ends up above the 2014 game because Michigan won.

Looking at the box score, Jake Rudock was efficient, De'Veon Smith had a good day on the dround and Michigan breezed to a 49-16 win.

Game Week Countdown - Rutgers #5

Hey guess what, I've seen M play Rutgers 5 times. Michigan has a 4-1 record in those games, so the #5 game is the loss.

Melissa and I made the trip to the east coast - stayed in the city and took the train to Piscataway for the game.

Michigan was inept - several dropped passes - inability to stop a horrible Rutgers offense. It all added up to a 26-24 loss to the Scarlet Knights.

To add insult to injury, we just missed a train back to the city and waited on platform for more than an hour for the next train back in.

Just an awful night all around.

But on the trip we did see The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

And have FoolAid Punch at the Meatball Shop

So it wasn't a totally bad trip.

Trophy update - The vs the Rutger

Ohio State is going for their 15th straight jiMpossible-sarcasMike Trophy win Saturday. The bludgeoning of Maryland brought the Buckeyes record to 66-15-1 in Trophy games.

This week they face Rutgers, the first winner of the Trophy. That game in 1869 was also the Scarlet Knights only victory with the Trophy on the line. They have lost 21 straight, by a total score of 621-61. Their most decisive defeat was 92-0 to Yale in 1883.

Since the Buckeyes are without Chase Young, I assume they won't be able to top that score Saturday. OSU closes with Penn State and Michigan, those games should be closer than the bloodbath Rutgers will suffer through tomorrow.

M vs. Rutgers prediction based on the last time M went to New Jersey

Two years ago we were supposed to meet my sister and her husband in NYC for a long weekend and take the train to Rutgers for the game Saturday night.
Hurricane Matthew trapped my sister in Florida so they were not able to join us. Melissa and I had no trouble getting to NYC and had a good weekend until we got on the train.

Here is my Facebook post:

We made it to the stadium as the National Anthem was playing. M got by with a 78-0 victory.

Adventures in Rutgersing

Mr and Mrs sarcasMike took a road trip to the Michigan Rutgers game. Mostly it was an excuse to spend the weekend in NYC while getting to see M play as an added plus. The original plan included having my sister and brother-in-law join us.

Untitled
4 tickets in Sec 209
Hurricane Matthew stopped them from coming up from Jacksonville. So we shouldered on without them.
We flew out Friday afternoon got in pretty late so Saturday was our big day in NYC.
Being avid Pokemon Go players we headed to Grand Army Plaza to see the madness. We were not disappointed.

There are several overlapping Poke-stops right at the statue of William Tecumseh Sherman.

Although the tall buildings mess with my phone's GPS so even sitting on the steps of the statue I wasn't in the right place...
Someone yelled something about a Lapras nearby and a large group of people went running south towards Rockefeller Center.
Untitled

Success!
We had tickets to the UM alumni tailgate so we went back to the hotel to watch football and get ready to take either the 3:50 of 4:15 train to New Brunswick.
Then tragedy almost struck... From my Facebook post:

So we missed the tailgate but got to our seats in time for the National Anthem.

You know what happened in the game.
Sunday was a musical

Then off to Brooklyn for some fried chicken and pie

Back to the Rock to watch some skating and take down the Poke Gym at the Atlas statue

We took the 6am flight back to Detroit Monday morning and I'm posting this from work (shhhhhh)
