Fantasy Draft update

Back in August 10 of us attempted a college football fantasy draft. We got the idea from here. The ten of us drafted out the 120 teams. With just he bowl remaining I have the lead, but anything can happen.

I thought I'd break down the "best" and "worst" picks in each round.

Round 1: Boise St (Dad) - Florida State (Mason)
Round 2: Arkansas (Cory) - Akron (Kevin)
Round 3: Northern Illinois (Dad) - Troy (Cory)
Round 4: Houston (Melissa) - Maryland (Kara)
Round 5: Arkansas State (Kevin) - Army (Andy)
Round 6: Ohio (Laura) - Oregon State (Mike)
Round 7: Temple/Florida Intl (Dad/Jesse) - BC (Mason)
Round 8: Penn State (Mike) - Idaho/MTSU (Dad/Mason)
Round 9: Kansas State/La Tech (Kara/Laura) - Colorado (Kevin)
Round 10: Wyoming (Mason) - Indiana (Kara)
Round 11: Utah State (Laura) - Mississippi (Mason)
Round 12: La Lafayette (Jesse) - New Mexico (Mason)

BigTen-ACC challenge if it were football

With the BigTen-ACC basketball Challenge this week. I wondered what this or similar conference challenges would look like if transferred to football for 2010.

I have to say, I like Michigan's chances in any of those games.

Mike's playoff, played off

I took your tourney field (I didn't have enough time to figure my own) and used a system where I took the teams games as typical games, randomly chose which one of those would be represented in a game in the playoffs, compared a random game for the other team and came up with the results (recent games are more weighted). I haven't figured out a good way to do points, so I just picked winners:

First Round
1 FL over 16 Troy
8 Ore over 9 LSU
5 Cin over 12 USC
13 Pit over 4 IA
3 ALA over 14 Hous
6 TCU over 11 PSU
7 Boise St over 10 Ga Tech
2 Tx over 15 CMU

Second Round
Fl over ORe. The home field was the difference here.
Cin over Pitt
ALA over TCU
Tx over Boise in a close one.

Third round
Cin over Fl. That even surprised me.
Ala over TX.

Final
Al over Cin

That is how it would play out (this time)
