The Game for the Trophy

Ohio State battled back and then watched as Maryland's perfectly called two-point conversion play fell incomplete to keep possession of the jiMpossible-sarcasMike Trophy


  • Ohio State is 54-15-1 all time in trophy games
  • The are 6-3 against Michigan for the trophy
  • The winner will take the trophy into the B1G championship for the first time against Northwestern. The two teams are a combined 5-2 against the Wildcats in trophy games.
    • OSU is 4-1
    • Michigan 1-1
  • Ohio State would be the first team to lose the trophy twice in the same season since Clemson in 2011. 
    • The Tigers beat Auburn ion September, and won 5 more before falling to Georgia Tech 
    • Clemson won the trophy back by defeating Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game then lost to WVU in the Orange Bowl.
  •  Baylor in 1991 was the last team to lose the trophy twice within the regular season.
    • The defeated Colorado then won 3 more times before losing to Rice.
    • Took the trophy back by defeating TCU 3 weeks later only to lose it again 3 weeks after that to Texas Tech.
  • Michigan is 25-25-1 in trophy games
  • Michigan has not possessed the trophy since the 2003 season. They defeated trophy-holder, Purdue then won 3 more times (including a victory over OSU) before losing in the Rose Bowl to USC.
  • Michigan has only played for the trophy once since then - losing to OSU in the 1vs2 battle that ended the 2006 regular season.
