With 114 rankings reporting, M is up to #34. That would mean going to VTU in the first round of a 36 team playoff.
The B10 is #6, but they are closer to #3 than they are to #7 (FBS Independents). B10 is much closer to #1 than to #8 Mountain West. The BCS conferences, at least in this system, are head and shoulders above the non-BCS conferences. I don't know if that is good or bad for college football.

I'll preface this by saying I don't have any idea of the criteria most of these rankings use, BUT...
ReplyDeleteI think the system works against them. Non-BCS schools have limited chances to succeed against BCS schools. They generally have to play on the road and are always playing up. Seldom is the best team in the MWC playing a middle of low team from the Big 12. But the 7th best team might play the 3rd best team etc.
Then when they begin their conference schedule, they're SOS numbers fall off the map.
