I think nearly everyone has commented on RR's decision to play DRob over Tate. So, I won't do that.
But, I wonder whether M should have tried the onside kick. If they hadn't, and everything from there happening the same way up to M getting the ball back, M would have ended up with the ball at the 30-ish and Denard may not have felt he had to go downfield.
Or not.

I think they knew they were going with Denard and wanted to try to give him a short field. Obviously that only works if you recover the kick.
ReplyDeleteHad they kicked it deep - Iowa may have tried something different, plus then their punter could have unleashed one.
I expected M to kick it deep, I was wrong.
