I don't know much about Brandon's background, but would he really want the huge paycut that he would need to do to be the AD?
ReplyDeleteBates, DeCarolis, Long and Manuel have shown they know how to run an Athletic Department. I'm sure they are all good, but do they have the business sense Martin has used to get things done at M?
Carr is a name. That's about it. He could do as good a job as Bo did. Whatever that means.
I can't really tell what Seyferth is doing now. It appears he is doing a pseudo business sports thing, no unlike Martin did before he was hired (Olympics). He could be good, maybe.
Movlason was at his prime when he was sitting at the table for M B-Ball games and was on the telephone the whole game.
The best choice is clearly Chaffin. I doubt the Regents would hire someone from the WAC, but he is clearly the best qualified. If nothing else, with Dave in charge, the M fans wouldn't chant "Overrated".
I know Chaffin had an uncanny ability to get open on the IM or Burns Park basketball court, however his finishing skills left a little to be desired.
